Make your backyard habitat more welcoming to birds by establishing the right types of plants and the right design. This talk will address planting for birds and how to create a perfect backyard birding oasis that supports our feathered friends with food, shelter, water and shade.

 

April 7: The Hummingbirds are Coming!

April isn't just about taxes, it's also when we start seeing these buzzy little migratory dynamos! We will cover all of the ways hummingbirds delight and amaze us and how to be great hosts when they arrive after their long journeys.

Spring Migration is upon us and as part the Atlantic Migratory Flyway, Virginia sees hundreds of species through the course of a year passing through and nesting. Want to get that life bird or just know what you're seeing? This talk will show you the variety of what we are lucky to witness during migration in Virginia.

Summer is bustling with nesting activity and you can bet you have a nest or two in your yard. Learn all about nesting behavior, fledging behavior and how to ensure a smooth and successful nesting season in your neck of the woods.

As with all things in nature, there are many misconceptions about birds flying around. We will help dispel some of those fun rumors and supply you with the correct information and a few fun facts to share with friends and impress at your next dinner party or trivia night!
